Afghanistan... the land that will never be the same

Finally back to blogging. I just saw a website http://all-that-is-interesting.com/1960s-afghanistan?utm_source=disqus&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=disqusus. It consists of a beautiful photo of Afghanistan. This photos were taken at the time of 60s when the world was free of islamic terrorism and the only point of conflict was Capitlist and Communist.

Just cant beleive that happened to such a beautiful place starting with the overthrow of the Shah in 1979 and installation of a Communist Government Thus drawing US and USSR into the picture. This is the start of the US funding the Islamic fighter to overthrow the Communist government.

There was a very famous film i recollect released some three years ago of Tom Hanks called Charlie's War. It tells about a Us senator which drumped up support for US to finance and train these militants in such warfare and give them the weapons.

Starting the Jehadi element in the Pakistani government by General Zia in 1970s and the funding by the Saudi and US Weapons began to pour to Afghanistan for the main purpose of defeating the USSR backed government. The war lasted a decade with the withdrawal of USSR troops but as shown in the film that the US didnt disband the Weapon factory nor rained in the militant infrastrature. They simply left the country for fending for themselves and now the world knows what happened in the last 20 years. Just observing the silence for the beauty that has been forever destroyed by the selfishness of both of the right and left.

No need for tablet pc

Why I don’t need a tablet pc

This is a brief write up to explain why I don’t need a tablet pc. I have brought myself 3 tablet pc in the last 2 years. Starting with the Notion ink Adam. I brought it on my birthday February 12. It is a tablet with a swivel  camera 3.2 MP, dual core process, 1024*768 pixel screen, 10.1 inch screen, 1 GB ram, with usb port, stereo speakers, folded magazine design, sing card slot. If you compare the spec with the market leader it virtual killed the Ipad with the spec but like they say spec is not everything. They never calibrated the UI properly so it used to crash. The ribbon interface was awesome in concept where we can run three apps at same time but it was only a concept. This same concept has been stolen by Samsung for their note 10.1 and Microsoft windows 8. Too bad a company that could have been a trend setter ended up being laughing stock of the tech world. This thing was buggy, no customer support, took 2 months 2 deliver and it was a sad excuse for a tablet. I spent 550 dollars for it and I sold it for 540 dollars on the net. I really regretted buying it as I brought it thinking it was a startup I love underdogs and I wanted to support an Indian firm. I just wish this firm closes down as it is an insult to all the patient people out there

The second tablet I brought a Blackberry Playbook. It is the future OS of blackberry. I brought it when it was on discount. It was 7 inch in size just about perfect size but unfortunately it suffered from lack of software and application support. It has great screen, nice light weight, and nice speakers but unfortunately initial high price killed it. It never got on the market it price dropped from 500 dollar to 200 dollar when I brought it. What will people with a blackberry when it doesn’t even support the things blackberry are famous for like bbm, mail etc. The failure of this single product really screwed up blackberry

The third tablet was the new IPAD which is technically IPAD 3 with the retina screen. It was 9.7 inch tablet with the 2048 * 1600 Retina display which apple harps and install in nearly all their product. I brought a 32 GB version from outside. It was really nice screen with powerful graphics. It had the support of so many apps around 270000 when I brought it. Now I don’t have it either as I realized it is just a facade. I rather have a large mobile or a laptop that can substitute as a tablet. It had a 5 MP camera which took decent picture in the proper light conditions. Moreover people look silly with taking picture with tablet but it is a nice option. It was the second best camera on a tablet after Asus Transformer Pad TF 700T or popularly called Transformer Pad Infinity. But after playing with it must say it is the perfect size as it is really slim 7.2 mm slim 308 grams In weight with a 5MP camera at back and a HD camera at front. The bad thing about is the screen which I am sure Apple which change to retina display

The main reason why I sold it was the launch of the I pad 4 within 6 months thereby outdating my Ipad. Apple just used to change their product once a year but within 6 months they launched an all new Ipad this is really sick. Also never liked the proprietary nature of Apple. We need to use apple product all the time and the OS was too simple. I would say it is a granny OS which is 2 simple for my taste. This was done mainly to compete with the Android Juggernaut as they were really beginning to challenge the Apple dominance of Tablet as they did with the smartphones.

Aplle for the first time responded to a challenge and launched a me too product in the Ipad Mini which is essentially a Ipad 2 shrunken down to 7.9 inch from 9.7 inches.

I will buy a tablet pc hybrid as it is the future the problem with touch screen tablet  are that they are not comfortable for typing for a long time though it is portable. You can carry it around and show it but what is the point as if you want to use office application or chatting we can’t use it for long. That’s where the new Windows hybrid comes now. We can use it as dual tablet and pc. It is the future of computing as we can do hardcore office and gaming on them and takes picture and show off with people.

A new phase

I am not going to sleep with enemy again

Sleeping with the enemy means compromising with things u don’t like. Either u get addicted to it or you can top it from impacting your life. I have a vice of such proportion. Some people have problem with women, drugs, cigarattes etc I have addiction with internet. I always keep sitting on the system just reading some stupd article which does little to enhance my life.

I have been saying from the past 2 yrars I will stop I will stop but I dotn seem to be able to stop it and I keep reading it. But now I have to because I realize the two biggest mistake I did in the past 2 year – one was job change I have been saying since lasy decemeber that I cam changing my job in my office still I am stuck in the same but I am in a different location that is the biggest insult of all and the other was I used to make fun of other people weght and their stomach when mine was no better. I just check my weight  on Thursday guess what I am 2nd time fat in my life the first I controlled it but now again I am fat. 1 kilo fat and .4 bmi aboe thatn normal. For a guy who is 5.4 being 67.5 kilo is a insult.

All this I will attribute to my hobby of reading article online. It has made me mechanical and I don’t like to experiment anymore. Before I had a bit of disclipline in my life followed a order but I am disciplined for just name sake nothing more. I just have a false pride that once I say something to make an impact on other I do it for the heck of doing it. I don’t actually enjoy doing it. But today I have decided it is time now to stop saying ans start enjoying the stuff I want to do.

So here start the program of not sleeping with enemy but being friend with it. I am ending reading article which has no impact on my life and rather use the spare time to do thing in..oke apply for job, doing more exercise, beng more systematic and also doing skating in the evening. I have brough a skates for 200 dhms in 2010 decemeber it is stil there in the cover and haven’t started doing anything with it.

Now I have to make it count.

Android 4.2.1 om Samsung Galaxy S3

The different 4.2.1 roms for Samsung Galaxy s3

I am just writing about the different 4.2.1 JB roms for android. As people know there are mainly 3 types of rom for Samsung Phone.

a)     MIUI rom: it is the most customizable rom for Android. You can change the boot animation, font, sms, internet browser etc. completely al the option. It is what I call the IOS version android. It is nice to use for a while then it gets stale as which version android you use it still looks and feel the same
b)     Samsung based kernel: these are roms like the Ultima rom and Foxhound silver rom who are based on Samsung. You get the entire Samsung feature like Sbeam, their camera, their video player etc. and based on the Android which is one step back. Now it is based on 4.1.2 only
c)     The CM 10.1 based rom: these are the rom that is based on pure Android 4.2.1 JB>cyanogen and AOKP are the pioneers of these roms. Among them the most famous are

i)                Resurrection Remix Rom V 3.1.4: This is the rom that I use as a daily driver rom. It is a 373 mb rom. I like this rom as it is as stock as possible but gives me the option of installing Samsung apps. I like the Samsung apps store as it allow to installation of some apps that are paid on the Google play market. We get option of minor customization in this rom. We can choose an extra theme or choice of music player between Apollo music player or Google music and choice of Modem for net. We get extra feature such as multiple user option
ii)              Revolt JB rom: I have tried this rom. I didn’t like it much. The major thing I like in this rom was just the Boot animation which I feel is the best of the lot of android 4.2.1. You have to install it in two parts. One download the main rom which is 163mb big and download the gapps  around 93 mb big
.
iii)            Super Nexus Rom V 2.0: This is the first rom which I used when I rooted my SG3 in the month of August. It is that time based on android 4.1.1. It converted my Phone as the developer said into Galaxy Nexus which you get only stock JB feel and nothing else. IT is made by Farayb who is said to be a 16 year teen. Hats off to him at the age of 16 he is doing it. It is also a two part rom. One is the main rom and other is Gapps.
iv)              Parandroid Rom: It is a 2 part hybrid rom. When you go to the setting tab you can see a split screen type of layout in short a tablet layout. It is a two part rom installation. One is the main rom and the other is the Gapps. It has the boot animation of X i.e., of the Nexus same as the Super nexus rom. You get option similar like RRR of extra user and all. I didn’t like the layout as I feel it is too much for 4.8 inch phone
v)              CM 10.1 nightly: These are the original creators of this rom. All the other rom is based on this nightly. Nightly means that it is theoretically not ready to be used as daily driver. But as this rom is really light just around 260 mb we can use it. it is the stock JB rom without the excess such as Google maps, Google plus, Google earth etc. All we get is Camera, Gallery, Lock screen widgets, the dual notification chamber.
The main things about the roms are they look and feel the same. It is good in a way as it is a very small rom at the maximum at 373 mb and the least will be 280 mb. You don’t need to worry about the extra which Google put in their OS which generally most people don’t use. But the problem is that they are looking becoming stale.  All these roms have a problem in that the photosphere mode is not working in the camera which generally even works in ICS or JB 4.1.1 and the front camera is showing as 1.3 MP while it is really 1.9 MP.

The main features of Android 4.2.1 are

a)     Lock screen notification:
You can swipe from left to right of the screen you will get a + symbol when we hit the plus symbol we can add different widget. The set just comes with 4 widgets one is the Google play, messaging, calendar and clock. It supports third party widgets which are a good sign but I don’t like this concept as it is not secure anybody can access your widgets from the lock screen but still a great option to have. Once you swipe from right to left you go to camera 4.2

B) Camera 4.2: You get a clean interface with just the big blue button. Icon to change the camera, video camera and panorama and the other for flash. Once we press the screen we can tap to focus and we get a circular to change the different option. When we swipe from right to left we got the gallery which is copied from windows 7 and IOS also copied it. Once we pinch to zoom we get the camera strip where we can swipe it fast from one end to another we get a film strip view. We can delete by just swiping up and down the screen. The gallery has a built in photo editor which will allow u to crop the picture and also apply effects like instagram

c) Notification panel: There is a new type of notification panel with the shortcut in the 2nd screen. We can swipe one finger and the screen with all the notification. We can pinch zoom to expand and collapse it. we can delete individual notification with a single swiping or with a cluster on the top we can delete altogether. I wish in the next update they can implement like IOS does club same notification together. With a two finger swipe we can get the screen for shortcut. It is really nice looking. Unlike the Samsung and HTC which really clusters the notification screen this is a really a good idea. We can either hit the icon on the top left screen on the single swipe gesture to go to this screen or two finger swipes
d) the keyboard: We get a new keyboard in android 4.2.1 it includes the gesture control we can just swipe to type or just type the normal method. It is great that Google implements it though swift key flow beta is better but it is of 4 dollars and this is built in. Google implementation is 80 percent close to swift key flow. Take your own pick what you want
e) Day dreams: another new feature implemented which is similar to the windows screensaver is the day dream option. We can set clock, photoframe, and color screen when the phone is not in use or charge. Though a silly feature nice to see it on the phone
f) Better Google now: Google now can now open application as Siri can though it can’t answer humorous question still.
g) Multi user mode: Multiple users can now access android 4.2.1 with their own setting. It is a very good feature for tablet but I don’t think so it has any worth for phone because who will share their with others.
This is just a brief over for Android 4.2.1 on Samsung Galaxy S3
